Where to eat between Portland and Roseburg?
When I travel to Camp from my home in Portland I usually get to Roseburg around meal time. When I am looking for something other than fast food or chain restaurant fare, the pickings are slim. I recently discovered BRIX 527 Cafe and Friday night grill. It is open only for breakfast and lunch (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) except on Friday. On Friday night it is open until 9:00 p.m. The menu has an interesting selection of soup, salads, sandwiches, flat bread creations (pizza-like) under $10. Service was OK, the food was very good. But not particularly fast. It is located at 527 SE Jackson St. Tel. 541-440-4901

Sounds good! How do you get to Peggy's, Leslie? East side of the freeway? West side?

Location
The world reknowned tradition for campers of many decades was to stop at Rice Hill for Umpqua Ice Cream. Well that tradition changed for me when I had a really bad experience of seeing an employee of the "usual" stop being quite abusive to a person with a developmental disability. I intervened when the "adult" in charge of the employees was no more mature or kind than the young person who started the inappropriate treatment of their guest. NOW, we ALWAYS stop at Peggy's. The servings are great. The staff are so friendly and they actually have a bathroom you can use. All is well at Peggy's in Rice Hill. Stop in for a cone on your way by.
