I've created a Facebook page for Camp. You may have noticed the badge in the left sidebar. Any comments?

It's quite nice!  75% of my friends all attend Camp Myrtlewood with me, so it's perfect for me.

Not Back to School Camp

Hi, David.  I'm part of the staff for the Not Back to School Camp.  We're the camp full of homeschoolers, unschoolers, and kids that self-direct their education.  My role there is "Mama Bear", which means any ailing camper can come see me and I'll take care of them.  I've only gone the last three years but I've heard about it for years.  I love Camp Myrtlewood and especially John and Margaret.  Last fall I got to know Jonathan, as well, and I found him to be full of interesting life experiences!

Mama Bear!

You represent one of the great developments that John and Margaret have really fostered at Camp; getting in a much broader variety of groups than was the case 20 or 30 years ago, when it was largely a church camp only. And that's part of our motivation in getting a presence online, with this site and now our Facebook page. These are ways of interacting and keeping in touch with the Camp community that are equally accessible to all.

It's my belief that it's all to the good to foster interaction and relationship building between these different groups. We all cherish Camp Myrtlewood, I think, and we are all stakeholders in Camp's ongoing viability, both financial and as a source of spiritual renewal. I can't think but that these disparate groups' getting to know or at least becoming more aware of one another will only make Camp stronger. We all have this thing in common which is important to us all. Our diversity is our strength!
